Description Extended Information

The AeroQuad Shield v1.9 allows you to easily connect the ITG 3200 triple axis gyro and the BMA 180 triple axis accelerometer breakout boards to an Arduino Duemilanove to create a 6 degree of freedom inertial measurement unit (IMU). This version of the shield also includes a voltage divider circuit so that you can measure battery voltage during flight! The pinouts from the shield to the Arduino are directly compatible with the AeroQuad quadrocopter flight control software, and can also be easily adapted to any application where absolute angle position is required.

This is a great alternative to wiring the sensors and other connections by hand. It reduces the introduction of accidental errors, reduces the amount of wires for a cleaner build and ultimately saves you time getting your quadcopter in the air! The AeroQuad v1.9 Shield is delivered to you as a kit. You will need to solder the components listed in the Extended Information section. This gives the end user the flexibility to experiment and install additional sensors as the end user desires. There is also a prototype area below the receiver connectors for additional experimentation.

Want to create a low cost quadcopter solution? It's possible to just purchase the ITG 3200 gyro sensor board and fly the AeroQuad in Acro Mode! Accelerometer can be added in the future for auto leveling flight.
Features
  • Pads reserved for mounting the ITG 3200 triple axis gyro and BMA 180 triple axis accelerometer (sensors not included)
  • Gyro and accelerometer I2C based sensors have programmable low pass filters to remove sensor noise
  • Capability to run additional 3.3V or 5V I2C sensors by using a voltage level converter (included)
  • Four PWM outputs for motor control (header pins included)
  • Six servo style connector pads to accomodate a six channel receiver (header pins included)
  • 5mm green and red LED's for AeroQuad status indicators (included)
  • The shield is designed for the Arduino Duemilanove
  • Depending on your application you have the choice to either install standard header pins or stackable header pins to connect the shield to your Arduino. Stackable headers pins gives you greater flexibility as you can stack additional shields on top in the future.
